ROSEWOOD MAYAKOBA

Rosewood Mayakoba is a resort located 30 minutes south of Cancun, Mexico and just north of Playa del Carmen.  The 1,600-acre Rosewood resort is comprised of three hotels scattered along over a mile of pristine Caribbean white sand beach on the Yucatan peninsula. The Rosewood Mayakoba offers 30 suites all with private plunge pools, that can be heated up to nearly 90 degrees, rooftop decks, individual docks and more.

When you arrive at the Rosewood Mayakoba the inviting staff welcomes you with a drink of your choice, before you sit down to learn more about the grounds and your room.

Soon you are whisked off by boat to your room and given a fruit snack with Mexican salt and cayenne pepper.

We stayed in the Deluxe Lagoon Suite, which offered over 1.100 square feet of indoor space and over 1,000 square feet of private outdoor areas including a private heated pool and a rooftop sun deck.  We took the aforementioned boat from the lobby to our room, but you can walk around the whole complex.  There are also golf carts that roam around the hotel looking for guests to take from area to area.

THE FOOD!
Rosewood Mayakoba has three restaurants: Casa del Lago, Agave Azul and Punta Bonita.  Casa del Lago focuses on a traditional Mexican breakfast and at night seques into an Italian restaurant, while Agave Azul serves Asian-inspired seafood and sushi.  It also offers a great tequilla bar.  Punta Bonita serves Mexican fare that did not disappoint.

Scrambled egg whites with tomatoes and onions served with blue tortillas and salsa and guacamole

Beach amenity: Tequilla with Champagne
Amazing Gazpacho

Churros with caramel sauce and vanilla bean ice cream
Bread with pumpkin seeds, served with sea salt, honey and butter

Cronut Mayakoba!

The Breakfast buffet included lots of breads, donuts, cronuts, coffee, Mexican hot chocolate, meats and cheeses, yogurt, cereal and much more.

Drinks!  Rosewood Mayakoba has a lot to offer those who like to indulge in libations.  They offer a great tequilla tasting at the Casa del Lago Bar.  They don't "shoot" the tequilla the way we have been conditioned to drink it here in the States.  They sip it and enjoy its complex flavors without salt and lime.  They serve your tequilla alongside Sangrita, which is essentially a bloody mary without alcohol.  They served six different tequillas from young to aged anejos.

They also have a wide variety of beer including some Mexican micro brews.  My favorite was Chupacabras.  A nice pale ale.

I cannot recommend Rosewood Mayakoba enough.  The room was perfect, the grounds were gorgeous, the food was very good and the service was impeccable. I hope to return!
